Philadelphia’s Largest Christmas Village Returns This Holiday Season

Philly Entetainment News

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Well, almost. Christmas will be here before you know it and we have the perfect attraction to attend this holiday season.

Christmas Village in Philadelphia is the city’s largest Christmas attraction, light show, and holiday destination. The Village has been one of America’s most recognized and award-winning German Christmas markets since 2008.

Sponsored by Bank of America, The Village will return on Thanksgiving Day, with previews on November 21 and 22 and will run until Christmas Eve at Love Park, City Hall Courtyard and City Hall North Apron.

The Made in America Holiday Festival returns alongside it at Dilworth Park from November 2o to January 1.

If you attend the village, you can expect to see festive decorations, twinkling lights, activities for the kids and live music. While taking in the sights, you can do your Christmas shopping from over 100 local and international vendors with everything from ornaments, toys, apparel, jewelry, decorations, home goods, artwork, sweets and more. And if you are chilly, adults can enjoy mulled wine and everyone can have a cup of hot chocolate, along with other European food and drinks.

The City of Philadelphia’s Commerce Department partnered with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation to provide grants to support minority-owned vendors at the Christmas Village to promote equity and reflect the diversity of Philadelphia. Through these grants, The Welcoming Center and Sable Collective will each recruit three or more local minority-owned businesses to vend at the Christmas Village and provide them with a booth at little or no cost, according to a press release.

New attractions this year include a carousel, Ferris wheel and a kid’s train. German American Weekend will make its return, along with other theme weekends. Santa might even show up and surprise the kids with even more things.

Admission is free to the village with food and drinks. You pay as you go shopping.  It will be open on Sundays through Thursdays from 11am to 7pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 8pm. Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve hours differ.

Organizers warn of exposure to COVID-19 and encourage everyone to be mindful. This is just one of the many attractions coming to LOVE Park this holiday season.
