No Fans Allowed at Phillies, Eagles Games for 6 Months

Philly Entetainment News

As we are entering into summer, many of us typically look forward to basking in the sunshine, enjoying time with friends, and attending different sports events. Since the pandemic started spreading in March, many states have been in lockdown, with local governments enforcing restrictions regarding work, shopping, visiting hospitals and health care facilities, and social gatherings. While the virus has showed signs of slowing down, several states have seen a spike in cases due to a number of people ignoring CDC guidelines.

Governor Wolf is taking precautionary measures to ensure that Pennsylvania doesn’t see a significant increase in the number of cases like Texas or Florida. Despite the lessening of restrictions and some areas of the city reopening recently, city officials have recently announced that no fans will be allowed to attend both Phillies and Eagles for at least six months, until February 2021 or unless there are changes to local guidelines.

Fan attendance is not having an impact on when professional sports will resume, as the Eagles are scheduled for their first game on Sept. 20th against the Rams at home. The Phillies are scheduled to open the 2020 season at Citizens Bank Park on July 24th against the Miami Marlins. For fans who love to see the games in person, this is a bummer but for most people anticipating sports to be back, it is exciting.

Only time will tell when large crowds will be able to gather and root for our favorite teams again, but until then, go Phils and go Birds!
