Iconic Philadelphia Landmarks Light Up Blue to Honor Health Care Workers

Phialdelphia Entertainment News

The Coronavirus outbreak has taken a significant toll on our healthcare workers, ranging from doctors to nurses and first responders. Due to the influx of patients with the virus, health care workers are working under far from optimal conditions, with a lack of PPE (personal protection equipment), understaffing due to sick workers, and not nearly enough ventilators to care for sick patients. Our health care workers, who are significantly stressed and overworked, are doing everything they can and putting their lives on the line to save as many lives as possible.

Throughout the country and the world, people as well as organizations from all different backgrounds have been showing their gratitude and appreciation to health care workers, and our beloved Philly is no different. On April 7th, which was World Health Day, the City of Philadelphia decided to honor and show appreciation for health care workers by illuminating several iconic landmarks in blue.

These landmarks included spots like Boathouse Row and Laurel Hill Cemetery, to Independence Hall and the Center City Skyline.

Though many of us seem helpless during this difficult time, there is always an opportunity to thank those who are risking their lives to help people. To all of our health care workers, sanitation workers, grocery store employees, transportation workers, and everyone who is out there doing their job during this crisis, thank you.
