Christmas is over and that means the next holiday everyone is planning for is New Year’s Eve. While some people might like staying home, watching New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and drinking champagne, others might like going out and celebrating.
2021 has been a crazy year and everyone deserves to have a little fun to ring in 2022. Whether it’s dinner at new restaurants, family events, happy hour or brunches, there is something for everyone.
Here’s how you can celebrate New Year’s Eve in Philly and the surrounding areas this year. Just remember to stay safe and drive responsibly. And have a very happy and healthy new year!
Family Events
If you need something for the whole family to enjoy, look no further than right here.
If you enjoy ice skating and need an early event for those little ones, be sure to check out New Year’s Eve Daytime – Family Countdown Skates. The event goes from 11am to 5pm with $12 skating admission and $15 skate rentals. At Energy Transfer Veterans Memorial Park in Newtown Square, PA, superhero characters and fairy tale characters will have skate sessions with the children. Kids will be able to see an early ball drop with mocktails and party favors. Flight On Ice is fun for the whole family as the session from 5pm to 10pm is for older children and adults. The New Year’s Eve skating party is hosted by Schaffer Sounds DJs and includes glow sticks, food and drinks, party favors and ball drops.
At 901 Market Street, Candytopia presents Sweet Holiday Wonderland. Candytopia, open from 10am to 6pm on Dec. 31, is counting down its final days in the city (last day is Jan. 9). Head to Philly’s fashion district in your best holiday garb for a deliciously immersive and outrageously interactive party. On top of the flying unicorn pigs, confetti explosions, marshmallow tsunamis and candy at every turn, Candytopia will also feature themed and fun decorations at select exhibits. Free photo-ops are available. Tickets are still available for select dates, so get them before they sell out. Masks are required.
Dinner Options
Everyone can enjoy a nice dinner on New Year’s Eve and there are plenty of restaurants in Philly to celebrate at.
Positano Coast on Walnut Street is offering reservations from 3 to 9:30pm and an after party from 10pm to 2am. Come and enjoy some delicious food and then stay after to ring in the new year. Tickets for the after party are $20 and include a live DJ, a cash bar, party favors and a midnight toast. Everything else is pay as you go.
Volver on S Broad Street is offering a Fixe Prix fiv course dinner from 4pm to midnight at the Kimmel Cultural Campus. For $95 per person, guests can enjoy starters, entrees and desserts. Volver is also offering a three course pre-theatre fixed menu for $56. Neither package includes beverages, tax or tip.

If you are looking for options that your kids will like too, be sure to check out Spasso on S. Front Street. From 4pm to 10pm, enjoy soup, appetizers and entrees, along with a kids’ menu at the Italian restaurant. Each item is priced accordingly.
Dinner And A Show
At the Cock ‘ Bull Restaurant in Peddler’s Village, you can enjoy a nice dinner while also attending a murder mystery: Vegas style. However, it is $118 per person, plus tax and gratuity, so be sure you have enough money. Cocktail hour starts at 7pm and the show starts at 8:20. The show comes with a three course dinner and champagne toast.
Party The Night Away
Concourse Dance Bar, at 1635 Market Street will have you dancing your way into 2022. Tickets include an open bar, access to the ice bar, DJ entertainment, a midnight champagne toast and more.

Be part of a 20 year tradition at the 700 Club. On N. 2nd Street, Upstairs at the 700 Club has the biggest ball drop north of Spring Garden for only a $10 cover. Upstairs, attendees can dance to club hits from 10pm to 2am and enjoy the bar downstairs. Then, everyone will gather outside to watch the ball drop and ring in the new year.

New Year’s Day Brunch
Vesper Center City on S. Sydenham Street is offering a bottomless brunch party, starting at noon and going until 4pm. The event ends at 5. Enjoy top-notch food, drinks and mimosas and music to bring you an epic boozy brunch party. Tickets are $50 per person (not including tax and gratuity) and seating in the main room must be a minimum of 4 people.
Oldestone on S Main Street in New Hope, is offering a brunch on January 1st from 10am to 2pm for $80 a person. Tickets include live music, a choice of either one mimosa or Bloody Mary, unlimited juice and coffee, carving stations, breakfast foods and more.
