Dua Lipa Brought A Dance Party To Philly- Future Nostalgia Tour Review

Philly Entetainment News

Fans couldn’t stop feeling the electricity when Dua Lipa brought her Future Nostalgia tour to Philly on Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Wells Fargo Center.

The night started off with two openers- Lolo Zouaï and Caroline Polachek. Zouaï, born in Switzerland and raised in California, opened the show with nine songs including the single and title track, “High Highs to Low Lows.” Polachek got the crowd even more excited for the night with nine songs including “Billions” and a cover of The Corrs’ “Breathless.”

After high anticipation, Dua Lipa finally hit the stage at 9:20 PM. Before appearing on stage, the name of her dancers and band members were all recognized on screen, which is a big deal considering they are half of the show.

Dua Lipa finally took the stage in a head-to-toe bright yellow bodysuit and opened the show with “Physical,” which already had the crowd dancing and jumping. She then threw it back with her breakout single,”New Rules” and continued with songs from Future Nostalgia.

Her dancers paraded around her with umbrellas and roller skates and just made the show that much better. You felt like you were entering a club or huge dance party the second they all stepped on stage.

“Philly! How are you doing tonight?” She asked the crowd, who cheered loudly. “We’ve been waiting two years to tour this album and are so excited to be here.”

Right before an interlude to “IDGAF,” Lipa sang “Be the One” from her debut album, in which she shouted out OG fans.

During the interlude the crowd sang and stayed standing even after she came out in a new outfit, a long sleeve, white glitter romper with white chunky heels. Lipa serenaded the crowd with songs from the deluxe and original version of her second album.

When she sang the deep cut “Good In Bed” Lipa got down on her knees and sang to the crowd in the pit. She then pointed to someone in the upper level and said, “I see you singing every lyric, so tonight, this song is dedicated to you.”

Act 3 began with a new outfit (a black top with pink leggings) and consisted of stand-alone singles including “One Kiss,” “Electricity” and “Cold Heart” feat. Elton John, who appeared in a video on screen.

She also got the crowd jumping when she played “Hallucinate” before going backstage for one last costume change and encore performance.

The last three songs had Lipa in a black and tan, skin-tight Mugler bodysuit. She flew above the crowd while singing “Levitating.” Lipa ended the show with the title track and then her lead single “Don’t Start Now.”

Lipa proved that she definitely is a female alpha and a force to be reckoned with. From beginning to end, she did not stop dancing and hyping up the crowd.

When she sang the last note, rainbow confetti bursted from the canons and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston started playing on the speakers. It was just a huge karaoke session as everyone was singing it on the way out. Everyone’s ears might have been ringing, but it was a ring that came with amazing memories.

Everything about the show made attendees “dance their a** off.” If you have a chance to go see her, do it. It was a solid 10 out 10 performance.

*If you are attending a show at the Wells Fargo Center soon you should know that the vaccine and negative COVID test mandates were dropped but mask mandates are still in place.*
