Adam Sandler Blocks Traffic In Philadelphia While Filming ‘Hustle’

Philly Entetainment News

Adam Sandler is currently filming the new movie, “Hustle,” in Center City Philadelphia and its suburbs. However, some people weren’t happy because streets were blocked off and the actor literally stopped traffic. But others waited around hours just to catch a glimpse of Sandler.

“Hustle” is an upcoming Netflix sports drama, directed by Jeremiah Zagar, about a former basketball scout who tries to remake his career by bringing a player from overseas to play in the NBA. The film also stars Robert Duvall, Queen Latifah, Ben Foster and more.

They started filming in October 2020 in Philly and then made their way to Coatesville Area High School in Pennsylvania. Some Philadelphia locations include Market Street, Manayunk, The Italian Market and South Philly with other scenes being filmed in Camden, NJ.

Police closed off both Arch Street and 19th Street, a block in either direction and placed ‘no parking’ signs around the area, which caused a lot of traffic during rush hour. But mostly everyone around the area was just excited to see an A-list actor in the area.

“Definitely worth it. I mean, it’s Adam Sandler in Philadelphia! What could get any better than that?” Nicolette White told 6ABC. She waited outside of her apartment for more than two hours to see him.

During a break between filming, Sandler greeted fans waving and talking to them. Manayunk resident Gabriela Castaño asked Sandler, “How are you liking Philly?” He responded with “I love Philly.”

A premiere date for the film has not been set yet, as production is still taking place.

Sharon Pinkenson, the executive director of the film office, said a production this size may have a huge impact on Pennsylvania, estimating around $65 million. She also said a lot of big projects are being filmed in Philadelphia and hinted that Adam Sandler isn’t the only celebrity Philly residents may see around the city.

So, if you are around the city you may catch a glimpse of the comedic actor, even though he might be blocking traffic. We are excited to see how this film turns out!
