The 7th Police District in Northeast Philadelphia hosted a family fun day for the neighborhood on Saturday, September 25. They hosted a similar event a few months ago, but this one was a lot bigger.
From 11 am to 2pm, the 7th Police District on the corner of Bustleton Ave. and Bowler St. had vendors, giveaways, free food, characters and more.
Vendors like Chick-Fil-A, Mission BBQ, the local ice cream truck, Boy Scouts, city representatives, and more were there giving away free food and items such as hand sanitizer, pens, candy, water bottles and more.
They host the event every year, except for last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Along with vendors, there was music, police and fire cars and Spider-Man, Elsa and McGruff The Crime Dog appeared to take pictures and hang out with the children. Spider-Man was dancing along to the music and being a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man while Elsa talked to children and walked and sang along to “Let It Go.”
Police officers, firefighters, EMTs and volunteers dealt with the heat to help give back to the community. Raffles and 50/50s were available for purchase, with all proceeds going back to the 7th District.
If you like free food and free giveaways, be sure to come out next year! It is a great annual event where you can come out and meet your neighbors, learn about businesses in the area and support those who keep you safe.
